2023 Annual Photo Competition award ceremony
Saturday was a rainy day, but undeterred by the wetness, photographers, SAMO supporters and enthusiasts gathered at the Visitor Center to celebrate this year’s entrants to our Annual Photo Competition.
Joey Algiers and Jody Lyle of the National Park Service spoke with SAMO Fund’s Executive Director, Deanna Armbruster, about the importance of art, and particularly photography, in raising awareness of the conservation efforts and celebrating the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area.
Prizes were presented by the head judge, George ‘Hutch’ Hutchinson and Deanna, with the Shelia Braden Award being presented over Zoom, by Sheila’s daughter Judith Eichenbaum.
