National Parks Around the World

National Parks are often referred to as one of America’s best ideas.  But did you know that nearly 100 countries also have designated national parks? Here’s some info about one of the UK’s national parks that has some similarities to the Santa Monica Mountains.  

Pembrokeshire Coast National Park is on the coast in west Wales. It was established as a National Park in 1952 and  is one of three national parks in Wales, the others being the Brecon Beacons and Snowdonia. It is the only national park in the United Kingdom to consist entirely of wild and maritime landscape.

 The Pembrokeshire Coast National Park Trust, just like SAMO Fund, works to raise funds to support the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, its visitors and communities across Pembrokeshire.

Speaking of the purposes of the National Park Trust, Funding officer Jess Morgan said: “The Trust has been established to promote the conservation of the area’s stunning landscape and wildlife, as well as to improve the physical and mental health of those who use it. We’re committed to leading the way in caring for our coastline and we’re keen to work together with anyone who feels passionately about protecting our iconic National Park landscape.
